Guilty Pleasures Part 2

guilty pleasuresGetting to Know You Part 2…

Hey everyone! Deanna here this week. And since Angie laid down a challenge in her last newsletter, I’m here to answer it with my guilty pleasures in her nine categories.

Last time, we heard back from a couple of you with your guilty pleasures. Anyone else wanna respond? We love hearing what y’all are up to. 😉

  1. Music: Okay, this is where I have to confess I’m a Swiftie. Yes, I went to the Eras tour. In fact, I went three times. I did manage to get Angie to go with me one of those times, but Taylor isn’t exactly her favorite, so I bet that’s the last time that happens. Lol. I was only going to go twice, once with my sister and then with Angie and our other friends. But then she came to New Orleans, and we live just a mile from the stadium, so I sucked it up and got last minute tickets. My lovely hubby, who barely knows her music at all, went with me cause he’s the best. I had a blast all three times. Other than Taylor, I’m an ‘80s and ‘90s girl, so give me ‘80s pop and ‘90s alternative and I’m in heaven. Also throw in some ‘80s hair bands, and I’m good to go. One day you might even get to see the picture of me and my sister on our way to Bon Jovi. Maybe. Our hair is something to see. Trust me.
  2. Food: I’ll try anything at least once. Hubs and I are foodies and love a good meal out. It’s not unusual to catch us saying really pretentious things like, “The flavors had a lovely layer,” and, “The food was fresh and tasted good, just not memorable.” Insufferable, right? It’s okay, you can laugh at us. I do. But don’t worry, I still love good old-fashioned food like homemade macaroni salad, and I’ve been known to steal a Pop-Tart out of Angie’s pantry.
  3. Hobbies: Yarn. Obviously. I made Angie teach me to crochet during the pandemic, and I recently made noise about learning to knit. We’ll see. I also have a pottery studio, where I turn pots on a wheel just for fun. And in a previous life before I was an author, I was a full-time glass artist and made glass beads for jewelry makers.
  4. Self-care: I exercise three to four days a week, either running on a treadmill or using an elliptical. Greg and I used to walk two or three miles a day, but since we’ve been in New Orleans this summer, it’s been too bloody hot. We hope to get back to that once the temps chill out a bit. I do like a good pedicure, but am lazy about going unless Angie drags me. Once I’m in TN full time, I anticipate more of that. I’m also going to include my puppies in this category. I have two Havanese pups. My boy is a year-and-a-half old, and my girl is just behind him at fifteen months. They are the loves of my life, and I spend a lot of time playing and cuddling with them. After dinner every night is play time for about an hour, and no matter what I’m doing, they don’t let me forget it.
  5. Guilty habits: I also stay in my pjs all day. If I’m just writing, why do I need to get dressed? I also am easily sucked into the internet, so when I’m writing, I have to put a social media blocker on it just to get anything done.
  6. Television: I’m terrible about watching the same shows over and over. Gilmore Girls, Friends, and Heartland are my top three, and they’re my entertainment comfort food. When there’s nothing new to watch, those shows are what I put on. Unless it’s November or December, then I’ve got the Hallmark channel on, because I adore me a cheesy Christmas movie. I also love rom coms, and When Harry Met Sally is my favorite.
  7. Books/Audiobooks: I listen to audiobooks every night when going to sleep. Usually, it’s a contemporary romance. I don’t really like to read/listen to paranormal when I’m writing my witch books. And likewise, I don’t like reading mysteries when we’re writing about Sadie. But when I’m taking a break from writing, give me a good cozy mystery or an urban fantasy, and I’m in heaven.
  8. Online Shopping: Oof. I do love to shop for purses online. I used to get a new one when I’d put a new book out, but that got out of control pretty quickly, so now I just get one every once in a while. I’m also a pretty big Amazon shopper. It’s just so easy to one click when I need something and have it show up at my door.
  9. Social Media: I get time blindness when I spend too much time on social media. And honestly, these days, I don’t really enjoy it much. There’s just too much negativity. Instead, I’ve sort of become addicted to games on my phone. It’s an incredible time waster, but at least I don’t find myself getting annoyed while I doomscroll.

So that’s me! Would love to hear about you.
